GRAND GALA CONCERT WITH ORCHESTRA
For a young pianist, performing a major concerto with orchestra is one of the most demanding and transformative experiences of a professional career.
The Grand Gala Concert with Symphonic Orchestra gives selected winners of the Carles & Sofia International Piano Competition the exceptional opportunity to perform as soloists with a symphonic orchestra before a large audience at the Teatre Municipal de Girona, one of the city’s most emblematic cultural landmarks.
An Italian-style theatre deeply rooted in Girona’s cultural heritage, the Teatre Municipal is also a stage marked by musical history. Over the years, it has welcomed legendary artists such as Arthur Rubinstein, Sviatoslav Richter, Alicia de Larrocha, Montserrat Caballé or Gidon Kremer, among many others. For a young musician, stepping onto such a stage adds a powerful historical and symbolic dimension to the experience.
But the significance of the Grand Gala goes far beyond the venue itself. Working closely with a conductor and orchestra, preparing a major concerto and experiencing the scale, discipline and responsibility of a symphonic performance represent an essential step in the artistic and professional development of a young musician.
The project also creates opportunities for the musicians of the orchestra and brings together different generations around a shared commitment to excellence, preparation and artistic growth.
Over the years, the Grand Gala has also become one of the major annual events of the Foundation in Girona — a highly visible celebration of young talent, bringing together audiences, institutions, cultural partners and the wider community.
For the participating artists, this visibility is part of the opportunity itself. The concert provides not only a major stage, but also professional photography, video, media exposure and valuable material that can accompany them in the next steps of their careers.
Held in the heart of Girona, the Grand Gala is one of the clearest expressions of the Foundation’s mission: to transform talent and recognition into real professional experiences, visibility and opportunities that can genuinely help build a career.
